A psychologically healthy person is, first of all, a mature person. Such a person has mental processes and relationships with oneself and with the world which allow them to achieve self-realization.

Here are the main characteristics of a healthy personality:

1. Adequate perception of reality and the ability to establish a comfortable relationship with it. “I see what is happening, I understand the connections, and I can build my behavior on this basis.” When dealing with reality, the person does not use “rose-tinted glasses” (infantilism) or “cloudy glasses” (the prism of negativity).

2. The ability to accept yourself and other people as they are. Everyone has pluses and minuses – and this is normal.

3. The ability to build personal boundaries: do not allow others to enter their territory and not step on someone else’s.

4. Developed emotional intelligence. The ability to put oneself in the place of another person, the ability to recognize emotions, intentions, motivation, and desires of oneself and other people, and manage this process.

5. The ability to establish strong emotional bonds with other people and form sincere relationships.

6. An internal stable conviction that “I’m okay and you’re okay.” It involves trust in oneself and the world. If you have this conviction as a solid basis, you can build healthy relationships both with yourself and other people.

7. Moral principles that are based not on stereotypes and prejudices but on personal experiences and common sense.

You are not sure where to begin?

8. Flexibility and adaptability. The ability to accept circumstances, adapt to them, and change your behavior when it is impossible to change the external environment.

9. Internal locus of control – an objective assessment of reality and one’s own life. The person realizes that what happens to them is more the result of their own choices and decisions, and not fate or other factors. If your life completely depends on the circumstances, you are driving a car without a steering wheel.

10. The ability to rely on oneself, and not on public opinion, to make one’s own decisions, and the willingness to bear responsibility for them.

11. The ability to feel compassion and empathize, but at the same time, not “merge” emotionally with other people.

If you apply these criteria to yourself – you will most likely notice your “weak spots”. This is normal: we grow and improve ourselves during our whole lives. But if you notice too many “gaps”, you must think about how to correct the situation. Many of our courses can help you with that.
