Subject: 4 ways to safely express anger

Text:

Hi! Are you good at expressing anger?

Just recently we did a survey and learned that 75% of people have difficulties in this area. Can you imagine? Whole 75%!

Why is this so?

Most likely it is due to the taboo on anger that many of us learned as children. Do you remember that in all children’s fairy tales, evil characters are angry? And parents could add fuel to the fire by criticizing anger. Or, conversely, if your relatives were hot-tempered, you might believe that “being angry is very scary and unsafe”.

In general, for one reason or another, you may either suppress the anger in yourself or, conversely, show it excessively.

Suppressing anger is a dangerous tactic. This leads to diseases – both mental and physical.

Expressing anger out of control is also bad. It destroys relationships and alienates people.

What to do?

Here are some safe and effective ways to relieve anger.

1. Name it

Say clearly to your interlocutor: “I feel angry right now.”

Ideally, if you can, ask for a pause in communication.

For example, “I am angry at you. Let’s get back to this topic in a few minutes.”

2. Spit.

If you can find a chance to be alone, go out for a couple of minutes and… spit as much as you want.

3. Puff like a locomotive.

Take a deep breath and exhale with force while making a sound resembling releasing of steam. You can even imagine that you are releasing puffs of anger. Repeat this cycle 10 times.

4. Physical activity

You can punch something soft (a pillow or a stuffed toy), jump up and down, punch a few times an imaginary boxing partner, throw something (without hurting yourself, others, or property). Brisk walking also helps to release tension.

If you know that you have difficulties with defining and expressing emotions, we have a wonderful solution for you.

Subject: How much a happy relationship is worth?

Text:

Hi!

Why do people get into bad relationships – what do you think?

There are different types of toxic relationships: one partner is running away while the other one is chasing them, one is a victim and the other one – the aggressor, one is infantile and the other one is taking care of them, one is a royalty and the other one is their page, etc. There are many scenarios. But there is one thing that unites absolutely ALL people who get into toxic relationships.

Is it low self-esteem? No.

Is it a low emotional intelligence? Yes. Yes, and one more time yes.

Where is the connection? It is simple.

A person with good emotional intelligence is not going to:

– Torture themselves

– Torture others

When people know well their emotions and the emotions of others, they will automatically be more careful and attentive. You cannot say that about people who enter toxic relationships. There, nobody is thinking about themselves or others – everything is controlled by dependency and trauma.

This is why working on emotional intelligence is a VERY IMPORTANT part of therapy for those who want to end toxic liaisons and learn to build strong, healthy, stable, and happy relationships.

You can develop emotional intelligence. You have an opportunity to do it right now.

Our awesome course “Emotional Intelligence” is now available in the Spanish language. More than 37 000 people from all around the world have already taken it and considerably improved their emotional state and their lives.

You are not sure where to begin?

1. Self-perception and self-awareness:

– I understand and am aware of my emotions – not from time to time, but constantly.

– I know what affects my emotions, where they come from, and where they “go”.

– I analyze my emotions and their intensity.

– I know my strong and weak traits.

2. Managing yourself and your emotions:

– I know how to manage even the most destructive emotions.

– I easily adapt to new situations and overcome difficulties.

– I look positively at things and do not allow negative attitudes.

– I always control my impulsive reactions.

3. Social awareness:

– I can accurately identify the emotions of others and know what is going on with them.

– I can read a person’s emotions on their face.

– I always know what words can hurt someone and choose my words very carefully.

– I am very sensitive to the needs of other people.

4. Managing relationships:

This area is not standalone – it encompasses the three previous skills.

– I have the skills to convince someone and can make others act according to my plans.

– Managing conflicts is my forte.

– I am great at working in teams and I am a good leader.

– I know how to create a warm environment.

Now, count the points in every area:

1-10 – the area is undeveloped. Your emotional intellect has not been fully accessed yet.

11-20 – the area is developed below average.

21-34 – the area is developed to the average level.

34-40 – congratulations – the area is highly developed!

Are you dissatisfied with the results? Does it seem like you should have scored higher? You can (and should) work on it.
