Today we will tell you how destructive relationships affect health.

The body reflects our psychological and emotional state. Everything we feel, everything we experience always manifests itself in the body. And this applies to both the good and the bad.

It often happens that a person cannot, or does not want to acknowledge what is going on in their relationship. And they are quite successful in tricking the mind. But you can’t fool the body.

Here are some bodily manifestations of codependency.

Heaviness

It is present throughout the body. You feel heavy when you’re walking.

You feel heavy when you’re sitting down. You want to hunch, huddle and curl up all the time. You find it hard to straighten your shoulders, to keep your back straight.

Feeling short of breath

No, you’re not suffocating, but you aren’t breathing properly either. All the time it’s like you are not breathing in enough air.

Also, if you listen to your breathing, you may notice that it’s rather shallow, a little irregular, restless, with long pauses.

You are not sure where to begin?

You can feel them as spasms, as being “stiff as a rock”, as heaviness, as pain syndrome. Perhaps you often find yourself shrugging your shoulders.

Nausea

And sometimes even vomiting without any apparent reason. Your body refuses to accept the situation you’re trying to feed it. There may also be other gastrointestinal disorders that have no medical explanation.

A lump in the throat

You can feel it constantly, as well as in situations when you need to speak out.

It’s a sign that you don’t have the freedom to express yourself.

Constant fatigue

It doesn’t seem like you’re doing a lot, but you’re exhausted. You have little energy, it appears for a short time when everything is great in your relationship, and then disappears again. You find it difficult to move; you do everything through resistance, through self-struggle.

Having a belly

It’s a kind of “lifebuoy ring” on your waist or lower abdomen that you can never get rid of. It’s a defensive mechanism of your body that is trying to survive and find stability while in a bad relationship.

Where do all these issues come from?

First of all – from increased anxiety. There is a lot of it in a codependent relationship.

Anxiety makes your body tense up. The tension makes your muscles clamp.

And from these clamps, the symptoms mentioned above develop.

What do you do with them?

Work on both your body and your mind.
