This concept appeared relatively recently and became a full-fledged diagnosis in 1988. Chronic fatigue syndrome (or CFS) is characterized by a constant feeling of fatigue and overwork – a pronounced loss of energy, which does not disappear even after a long rest.

No one can say for sure where CFS comes from. However, it is known that long-term (chronic) psycho-emotional strain of the human nervous system provokes the onset of this syndrome. So, it is not surprising that CFS most often occurs in residents of densely populated cities, and we are unlikely to hear about it from a resident of a village or a small town.

In megacities, there is a lot of information noise. People have a frantic rhythm of life and are forced to join this unstoppable race. Their nervous system may not be able to cope with it and gets overloaded like a computer from a large amount of incoming data. Also, CFS frequently visits ambitious active people who strive for career growth and invest in achieving personal success, sometimes disregarding their capabilities and the capabilities of their bodies. CFS is also common among people in positions that involve high levels of responsibility: pilots, dispatchers, doctors, since chronic stress is not the best companion for the human body in general and the nervous system in particular.

Additional risk factors, such as an unhealthy lifestyle, bad diet, lack of vitamins and microelements, chronic stress, and unfavorable environmental issues can also influence the onset of chronic fatigue syndrome.

What to do to avoid CFS? As always, it is easier to prevent something than to cure, and prevention in this case is aimed at maintaining your health and the state of the nervous system in good shape. This requires some fairly simple measures, but they are the ones that we most often neglect.

▸ Observe your daily schedule: allow yourself to rest and not overload, do not forget about vacations and taking weekends off.

▸ Make sure that you have enough quality sleep and proper nutrition: less fast food, more healthy food.

▸ Arrange for yourself an informational detox: once a week, take a break from the phone, e-mail, instant messengers, scrolling through news feeds and social networks.

▸ Spend more time outside, provide yourself with an influx of positive emotions.

▸ If possible, reduce the number of bad habits: smoking, alcohol, drinking a lot of coffee.

▸ Surround yourself with people who support you, and significantly reduce communication with toxic types.

▸ Add bodily practices to your life: massage, yoga.

Chronic fatigue syndrome is an unpleasant thing that greatly reduces the quality of life. Therefore, you need to take care of yourself to maintain strong immunity against this “malady”.
